In RC Wars, teams of students will build their own Remote Control vehicles to race and battle against other teams. Students will need to design their vehicles to not only be faster and stronger than other teams’ creations, but also better than purchased RC Cars and Drones! RC Wars will feature land and air races, obstacle courses and more as students learn mechanical and electrical building skills in an energetic and exciting environment. (Entering 4th-10th Grade)

Sew Creative Camp is a hands-on summer program for 4th–8th graders where students learn how to sew, upcycle clothing, and design their own pieces. Instead of just consuming fashion…they learn how to make it.

The "Minecraft Olympics" is a dynamic three-day summer camp designed to immerse participants in the thrilling world of Minecraft while fostering teamwork, creativity, and friendly competition. Campers will engage in daily Build Battles, showcasing their imaginative prowess in constructing awe-inspiring structures aligned with diverse themes. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

Beginning Reading Foundations is a paper-based, kindergarten-level supplemental program to help emerging readers with foundational literacy skills. It is designed as a “ramp” to SylvanSync instruction for younger students who need a more hands-on approach. (For ages 4-6)

The camp will provide the foundation for future J-Hawk basketball players. During the camp we will focus on fundamental skill development, competition, and fun.

Speed U will focus on functional movements on the field / track to improve speed and agility. Athletes will be coached up on proper running mechanics, both linear and lateral explosive plyometric movements, plus competitive and cross training drills to increase speed.

The camp will provide the foundation for future J-Hawk basketball players. During the camp we will focus on fundamental skill development, competition, and fun.

From blogs to persuasive pieces (haven’t you always wanted to hear exactly why they need a cell phone in 4th grade?), students will engage in different types of writing and writing styles. They will spend their time getting their creative juices flowing and improving their writing skills. Taught by a Sylvan Certified Writing teacher, students will be armed with great foundational skills for back-to-school success (or to beat the summer boredom). (For grades 3rd-5th)

The High School Summer 3v3 Basketball League gives players an opportunity to learn the intricacies of the game and develop their skills in a low-stress environment.

This wrestling camp is designed to provide instruction on the basic fundamentals in a positive environment. Athletes will be instructed on skills through drills, live wrestling games and will receive group and one on one instruction.

The youth camp is designed to provide instruction on the J-Hawk way of executing basketball fundamentals in a positive environment. Players will be instructed on team and individual skills through drills and games. Players will receive one on one instruction along with teamwork ideas.

DASH Sports Summer Lacrosse camps provide participants a no-contact introductory experience to the game. Athletes will learn basic lacrosse fundamentals including stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting all in a fun, non-checking environment. This is a non-contact camp, helmets, gloves, and mouthguards are not required, but can be brought with and worn. (For Boys & Girls ages 6-12).

Competition camp is focused on game play. Players will be divided into teams that will compete against one another. This camp will help give players game experience.

If you like playing video games, you’ll love designing them! Trained instructors will teach students how to program their own video games using an engaging program called Kodu. They will create their own world, populate it with characters, and then play the games they create during class. Students will learn important programming skills while having tons of fun, with no prior experience needed! (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

DASH Sports Flag Football Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the great game of football in a little to no contact safe environment. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. (For Boys & Girls ages 2-7)

Unleash your inner music producer in Music Tech & Beatmaking! This creativity-first camp introduces students to the world of digital music production as they craft drum patterns, bass lines, and melodies, then arrange loops into full tracks. With simple tools and beginner-friendly techniques, students will also learn basic “mastering” skills to give their songs a polished, punchy sound. (Entering 4th-10th Grade)

This course mixes Sylvan math curriculum with fun and engaging learning activities to help your student improve their understanding of basic addition and subtraction skills while increasing speed and accuracy. Math Fact Bingo, anyone? (For grades 1st-3rd)

This camp provides basic technique and fundamentals for all offensive and defensive positions. Teams will be selected and players will compete in skills competitions and games. (For students entering grades 3rd - 6th). Coach: Pete Traynor – UHS Football Coach and Staff. Football cleats suggested but not required.

J-Hawk Skills Basketball Camps are a great way to introduce your young athletes to the sport of basketball. These sessions will foster the fundamentals of the game, physical fitness, gross motor skills, and the importance of team play. In this fun-filled, positive and encouraging environment the participants will work on individual skill development and compete within their age groups in various skill competitions (dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense).

Boot Camp classes will consist of varied intensity, full body workouts focused on functional movements, interval training and aimed at increasing overall strength and conditioning levels.

Turn your creativity into something you can wear and share! In Merch Lab, students will design their own T-shirts, stickers, and buttons using the same digital art tools that real designers use. Throughout camp, participants will learn how to bring their ideas to life on screen, experiment with bold colors and unique styles, and watch their creations transform into real, take-home merchandise. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

Bring your Minecraft world to life with your own custom art! In Minecraft Game Art Studio, students will transform their love of the game into creative skills by designing player skins, themed texture packs, simple UI icons, and 2D sprites that can be exported and used at home. Along the way, they’ll learn the fundamentals of pixel art—like readability, color palettes, and tiling—while gaining beginner-friendly file skills to make their art usable beyond camp. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

DASH Sports Summer Volleyball camps provide players with a well-rounded experience in a fun environment. Key volleyball skills such as passing, serving, and hitting will be taught and practiced throughout the week. Fun, volleyball skill specific games are also incorporated, giving players game type experience, and a better understanding of the game! The final day of camp ends with scrimmages and games for players to showcase their skills. (For ages 6-12).

This class will cover common methods for saving and investing for your children's college expenses. Parents can set their children up for success when they learn how to effectively save for college. This class will cover in detail what you should know and common pitfalls to avoid when saving for your children's college expenses. This course will also briefly discuss helping your children set themselves up financially after they graduate.

The Urbandale Show Choir Experience is for all students interested in improving their basic skills of vocal technique, learning choreography, facial engagement, and vocal projection. The camp will happen over 4 days, consisting of vocal rehearsals, choreography sessions, and activities for the singers and dancers to get to know each other. At the end of the camp, campers will showcase the three songs prepared throughout the week in a special performance.

Learn job searching skills, the interview process, how to navigate basic technology to manage your time, powerful communication skills, and how to present yourself as a professional. These life skills are essential for success in the working world! (For grades 8th-12th)

DASH Sports Summer Floor Hockey camps provide players with a well-rounded hockey experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly stickhandle, pass, shoot, and play defense in a fun and positive environment. Athletes should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle and a snack. Sticks and pucks are provided. (For ages 6-12).

DASH Sports SNAG Golf Summer camps provide participants instruction on golf fundamentals using the Starting New At Golf (SNAG) program. Putting, chipping, pitching, and driving the ball work with this adapted equipment developed with a youngster's height and small hands in mind, creating a fun learning and playing experience. Participants should wear sunscreen and bring water and a snack. All equipment is provided. (For ages 6-10).

DASH Sports Soccer Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the game of soccer. Key elements of dribbling, passing, and shooting will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. (For Boys & Girls ages 2-7).

DASH Sports Summer Athleticism camps provide participants with an overall athleticism building camp experience including speed training, agility, endurance, body control/balance, quickness, strength, power, and jumping. Camp consists of many different types of physical activities, drills, and games, all tailored specifically to enhance overall athletic performance. All participants will be evaluated and timed on the first and last day of camp on several athletic tests. (For ages 6-12).

Get ready to start the school year off right! The biggest hurdle to academic success after elementary school seems to stem from lack of study skills. During this course, students will be introduced to different strategies related to organization, time management, learning styles, note taking, and test taking. We want to set students up for success in middle and high school! (For grades 5th-12th)

DASH Sports Athleticism Tykes camps provide little athletes with an overall introduction to building athleticism. This camp experience includes running, agility, jumping, hopping, and balance/body control. Camp consists of many different types of activities, drills, and games, all tailored specifically to introduce participants to all the components of being an athlete. (For ages 3-5).

Battle Drones features an exciting combination of aerial acrobatics with an engineering design challenge that will teach students STEM concepts, teamwork, and how to skillfully fly a drone. In Battle Drones, teams of students will build robotic launchers designed to fling projectiles at their opponents’ drones. Students will be guided by experienced camp instructors in how to construct their launchers to maximize projectile speed and accuracy. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

The youth and middle school camp will be instructional, with a simple focus: warm?up, short ball?work, and then lots of play. This camp is for students entering grades K–8.

Take your Minecraft skills to the next level with Minecraft Engineering Challenge, the ultimate STEM-powered sequel for fans of the game! Students will dive into the world of Redstone to design circuits, build logic gates, and optimize resource pipelines while sharpening problem-solving and systems thinking skills. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

Step into the arena with Build & Battle Robotics (LEGO Edition), where creativity meets competition! Working in small teams, students will use LEGO robotics kits to design and build their own battling machines—whether it’s a powerful pusher, a clever wedge, or a spinning striker. Along the way, they’ll learn the engineering behind gearing, traction, and armor as they tweak and improve their designs. (Entering 3rd-9th Grade)

Camp is intended for all middle school players who will be going out for Urbandale Middle School Volleyball in 2026.  Individual, group and team concepts will be taught with a focus on fundamentals and advanced skill technique. (For students entering grades 7th – 8th).

The goal for this camp is to provide basic technique and fundamentals for all offensive and defensive positions. In addition, individual, group and team concepts will be taught on the foundation of our offensive and defensive schemes. (For students entering grades 4th – 6th)

An opportunity for incoming 6th, 7th/8th and 9th grade students to prepare for the 2026 OPUS audition selections, and audition materials. Students will be provided audition materials to work with to help them prepare for the Fall 2026 Opus Honor Choir Auditions. This will help students get ahead and allow them information to practice on their own prior to the start of school.

Camp is intended for all high school players who will be going out for Urbandale Football in 2026. Individual, group and team concepts will be taught on the foundation of our offensive and defensive schemes. Offense, defense and special teams' installation will be implemented for the season during this camp.

An opportunity for incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade Urbandale band students to help them start getting back in shape for band. Students will have full group rehearsal time, small group sectionals, and will learn about instrument care and maintenance.

This camp is intended for all 6th - 8th grade students who have interest in trying out Urbandale cheerleading. Individual, group and team concepts will be taught with a focus on fundamentals and advanced skill technique. Skills that will be taught include: jumps, cheers, dancing basics, and stunting.

DASH Sports Summer Multi-Sport camp includes fun skills training and games in three sports: Soccer, Flag Football, and Baseball. Key sports skills will be taught and practiced in all 3 sports so athletes will come out of camp with a great understanding of key skill components and gameplay of each sport. Camp ends with games/scrimmages the final day for each sport, where athletes can showcase their skills. (For ages 6-12).

DASH Sports Summer Track & Field camps provide participants with practice in several areas including: sprinting, throwing (javelin and shot put), relay running, long jumping and distance running. Emphasis is on technique and proper form. All players will be timed/tested on the first and last day. Camp consists of many different types of physical activities, drills, and games, all tailored specifically to enhance overall track and field performance. (For ages 6-12).

This camp provides basic technique and fundamentals for all offensive and defensive positions. Campers will be instructed on the base offensive and defensive schemes and assignments used at Urbandale. (For students entering grades 7th – 8th). Coach: Steve Dillon – Head 8th Grade Football Coach

The goal of Team J-Hawk Flag Football is to stress having fun as a group, to encourage physical fitness, and to teach players the rules and fundamental skills of football. Sportsmanship and teamwork are emphasized. League rules require that every player must have a starting position and must participate in at least 50% of the game.

Crafting Your Death Plan is a course that encourages individuals to think openly and honestly about what their wishes would be at their death. It's an invitation to not only accept, but plan for our mortality. Each participant receives a working document that covers everything from sensory details and final disposition options to financial accounts and possession allocations. Participants will leave with all that they need to complete a full death plan for themselves. (For ages 16+)
